Dear Neighbor,
Last week, my staff and I co-hosted and attended four property assessment appeal workshops across the 8th District. I want to thank Board of Review Commissioners Samantha Steele, George Cardenas, and their staff for hosting these events to assist our communities. Together, our offices collectively assisted hundreds of residents to apply for appeals.
At every event I attended, I heard a consistent message from residents: the rising cost of property taxes are unaffordable and unsustainable. That is why I am working closely with President Toni Preckwinkle’s Property Tax Reform Group working group to develop long-term solutions to our property tax system. I am committed to working with my colleagues on the Board of Commissioners and in the Illinois State Legislature to develop meaningful solutions to our property tax system that will alleviate the financial burden on our working and middle class families.
You can read the first report of this PTAX Reform Group here.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can assist you with. Stay warm!
Sincerely,
Anthony J. Quezada
Cook County Commissioner, 8th District
