Next week, my office is co-hosting property tax appeal workshops across the 8th District with Board of Review Commissioners George Cardenas and Samantha Steele. If you believe there was an over-valuation of your property assessment, you can file an appeal with the Board of Review free of cost. Please find the details for our upcoming events below.

The 8th District office, located at 2934 N. Milwaukee Unit C, will be closed for business on Monday, January 15th, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will re-open for business at 9:00 am on Tuesday, January 16th.

14th Police District Community Meetings Join the 14th Police District Council tomorrow at their first 2024 meeting at 1:00 pm at the Logan Square Library, 3030 W. Fullerton Ave. There will be general updates on activities, including 2023 DC Annual Priorities, and on committees, as well as discussing the launch of Commission applications, the ongoing struggle over police arbitration, our 2024 schedule, and other topics that you bring to share! Paid Leave Change
As of December 31, 2023, workers in Cook County will earn at least 1 hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked, to be used for any reason. Visit www.cookcountyil.gov/PaidLeave for more information.
Minimum Wage Change
Do you work in suburban Cook County? Do you know if you’re being paid an appropriate wage? The minimum wages increased to $14 for non-tipped workers and $8.40 for tipped workers, effective January 1, 2024!
